Comments from Participants
The following are actually comments received from current and past participants with Spiritful Voices Community Choir
concerning their experiences:
“I particularly enjoy the variety of music and being introduced to new music each season. I can't say enough about how much this experience has meant to me and my husband, Kelly. Even when I occasionally come to a rehearsal feeling tired and frustrated, by the time I leave, I feel relaxed and happy. I know first-hand that music makes a difference!"
Dr. Debbie A. Barker, Alto
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity for musical expression that Spiritful Voices has given me. It is recreation, but it's more than that. It's a way of contributing to the enjoyment of others but also a way of cleansing the mind, so to speak—refreshing myself and releasing stress. It’s hard to explain, but I wanted you to know that I just appreciate you and the choir, and hope we can keep it going and growing for a long time.”
Henry Dolive, Tenor
“I have very much enjoyed being a part of the choir and have found it to be quite therapeutic given the stress I have experienced being unemployed. I am hopeful that my contribution can give back. I have long awaited the opportunity to sing solo or with a group as singing is one of my passions in life."
Joretta A. Warren, Alto
"Let me say how much I'm enjoying being part of the choir. I like learning new music and the variety is great."
Leann Greeley, Soprano
"I wanted to thank you for giving me the opportunity to play with and for Spiritful Voices, because it gave me some practical experience that people like you rarely give inexperienced people like me. And that, for me, is the only way to get started. I mean, John Williams started somewhere, right?”
Andrew Grall, Accompanist
"I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the choral rehearsal last night. It brought back memories of performing in a mixed choir (in school). The music you have chosen is a great blend and also provides a fun environment and challenge."
Jodie Foster, Alto
"I regret to say that (due to several personal circumstances) I cannot continue with Spiritful Voices like I had hoped...I have really enjoyed my time with (the choir). I have enjoyed the company of some lovely women, sang some wonderful songs and eaten some great pies. You just can't ask for a better director, so I would say I have come out very well overall. I hope that next year I have the chance to come back and try it again...Again, let me express how I have enjoyed my time with your choir under your leadership. Not only did I gain in my knowledge of music, but I had some good conversation and good food, too.”
Kathy Morris, Soprano
"Spiritful Voices Community Choir was a highlight experience in my life, and a credit to the community and the chorus participants. It continues to remain a happy memory in my heart. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it and to learn so much more about good and worthwhile music."
Marquita Carleton, Soprano
"Spiritful Voices has been a wonderful part of my life and I thank you so much for that."
Martha Hardin, Alto
