-Who We Are-Our NameSpiritful Voices Community Choir—precisely defines who we are: Although considered an obsolete word in today’s English language, the definition of the adjective spiritful (not "spiritual")—lively; full of spirit—so aptly characterizes the essence of our group that it simply had to be part of our name. Some musicians play brass instruments, others play woodwind or percussion ones, but the instruments used by each of our talented musicians are our voices. Finally, the word community denotes "a unified body of individuals with common interests." Thus, our name literally means, "An exuberant society of choral musicians whose well-trained voices and love of music are used to produce resplendent song." "The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sing the best."— Henry David ThoreauOur MissionTo make a significant statement for choral excellence in the northwest Oklahoma City metropolitan area by performing a variety of choral works at the highest level of quality possible, intended to entertain, inspire, soothe, and delight our audiences.
